It is a mobile X-band radar that helps protect civilians and infrastructure in the U.S., deployed warfighters, and allied nations and security partners, from the growing ballistic missile threat. U.S. public intelligence estimates indicate there are more than 6,300 ballistic missiles not controlled by the U.S., NATO, China or Russia, with that number expected to reach almost 8,000 by 2020.“Delivering this ninth radar is crucial because our nation’s enemies continue to improve and proliferate their ballistic missile technology and tactics,” said Raytheon’s Dave Gulla, vice president of Integrated Defense Systems’ Global Integrated Sensors business area. “The AN/TPY-2 consistently demonstrates its ability to pace the evolving threat, and test after test has proven it effectively defends against every category of ballistic missile.”The radar will be integrated into the U.S. Army’s fourth Terminal High Altitude Area Defense missile defense battery, serving as the “eyes and ears” of the system by searching, detecting, tracking and discriminating threats, and guiding the intercepting missile. Raytheon serves as one of MDA’s prime contractors for THAAD.Raytheon is currently under contract to provide three additional AN/TPY-2 radars for the MDA, and is in the process of building two radars for a U.S. ally in the Arabian Gulf.[mappress]Press Release, March 20, 2014; Image: Raytheon View post tag: radar View post tag: U.S.

Image via:dominicacentral.comOne evangelist is hoping that the release of his new book entitled ‘Teach us how to Pray’ will help eliminate one of the leading problems present in our churches on the island.Evangelist Peter R Augustine, who will be launching his new book on Wednesday, says that the book will seek to help persons learn how to pray; especially those who are church-goers, who still don’t know how to pray.“This book is entitled ‘teach us how to pray’. And from my personal experience I realize that there are many people who are in church but they have not yet learnt how to pray. But more than this they were not taught how to pray. And I think having listened to the way people pray, I realize that there was a need for a manual that somebody can take a hold of and learn how to pray. Because it is very important to pray; Jesus says that it is important that we pray always. Paul says that we should pray without ceasing. It is of great importance also to the church and I am hoping that as a result of this book there will be a renaissance, a revival of prayer in personal lives, in communities, in churches and in the country as a whole”. He said the book can be considered as a reference manual for all churches, regardless of denomination. “This book is important for those in the ABC of their prayer lives as well as for those who have graduated from the school of prayer, this book is for everybody, I’m hoping that the churches will buy it as a manual to teach people to pray and individuals should get it because I think that it is a good book for the time that we live in”. The new release will join Evangelist Peter R Augustine’s growing collection of books and will be available at all bookstores in Dominica. Like his other two publications; ‘Rise up and walk’ and ‘Kingdom Carriers’, ‘Teach us how to pray’ will also be printed in French, which will be sold in various French countries. He is also working on another book which will soon be ready for publication.“As I said the Lord has opened the doors for me to enter the French countries and I have realized that in plenty of the French countries, you do not have much material available and I have promised that each book that I write will also be published in French”. He said that he will remain committed to spreading the gospel using various mediums.“I remembered attending a conference where Dr. Billy Graham spoke and he said that we ought to use all the technology available to share the gospel. And as you are aware, I have been on the radio for the past thirty plus years, and I realize that this is a very important thing; in taking the gospel to the ends of the earth but I also realize as an evangelist, I can only be in one place at a time and so the book is like a legacy. Long after I will have gone, the book will be there for people to read and to see that some of the things that the spirit of God has led me to write.” Mr Augustine says this is a humbling experience for him and that he has two other books working on. “I’m thankful to God; it’s a humbling experience for me. Now I’m realizing the more I write, it seem to be getting easier and I’m already working on my third book entitled ‘God has no grandchildren’. And then I’m going to work on another one called ‘Total Security’. The Lord has given me themes and I’m beginning to realize that the purpose is for us to know God and to make him known”.Evangelist Peter R Augustine is the producer of ‘The Hour of Preparation’; a gospel program aired on radio stations locally for over thirty-four years.‘Teach Us How To Pray’ will be officially launched at a special ceremony at Krazy Kokonuts from 4:30 pm today.Dominica Vibes News Share 219 Views one comment Share
