County Board chairman says new competition proposals not workable.

first_imgTipperary’s County Board Chairman says the proposal to hold all competitions within a calendar year is just not feasible.Michael Bourke was speaking at the board’s first meeting of 2015 at the Sarsfield Centre in Thurles last night. His comments come after the GAA’s Director General Paraic Duffy re-emphasised the importance of fixture changes to deal with player welfare issues and the needs of club hurlers and footballers. The two most radical recommendations would see the All-Ireland finals finish a week earlier and the club season finish in the same year it starts.Michael Bourke says while the proposal from the GAA Central Council working group is impractical it is still likely to pass if it were put to a vote at Congress given there are only around 10 dual counties.last_img
