JOHN, B.C. — Three scholarships have been established to honour the memory of Dr. Kearney Middle School teacher, Rebecca Young.Young was a Life Skills teacher who was coming back from Newfoundland for her second year of teaching, when she died suddenly of a brain hemorrhage in August 2015 — days before this school year started.She was also a talented musician, and created an album in 2010.- Advertisement -Angela Griffin, another Special Education teacher at Dr. Kearney, told Energetic City the scholarships will be given to North Peace Secondary School students.$1,000 will be given to a student pursuing studies in special education, $500 to a student pursuing studies in music, and $500 to a student with special needs graduating from North Peace Secondary School.So far, the school has gathered roughly $1,500 in donations for the scholarships, and Griffin is confident they will raise enough to award all three scholarships this year.
