DRAGON BOATS AND LION DANCING COME TO DONEGAL TOWN THIS SUNDAY

first_imgBY PAUL O’SULLIVAN: Donegal Town will experience for the first time the colour and energy of Chinese Lion Dancing this Sunday for the official Naming Ceremony of the towns’s first two Dragon Boats which ​will take place ​outdoors behind Pier 1​ at 3pm.The 3 times All Ireland winning Donegal Town Community Band will perform live on the Diamond at 2.30 pm beforehand and lead the parade down Quay St. for the ceremony which includes a spectacular Lion Dance in full costume.Disney’s Minnie & Mickey will be attendance for photos. The upper body movement of Dragon boat rowing has been proven to speed up the recovery of and help to prevent breast cancer.The two all new Dragon boats will be a regular feature in the town’s picturesque estuary all through the summer.The organisers are fortunate to have one of the country’s leading experts in breast cancer; Mr. Michael Sugrue from Letterkenny General Hospital who will give the keynote address.After the ceremony, everyone is invited into Pier 1 for food & entertainment. Adm is only €5.
